We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father
and God the Son and of the same nature; that He was active in the creation;
that in His relation to the unbelieving world, He restrains the evil one until
God's purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of
judgment; that He bears witness to the truth of the gospel in preaching and
testimony; that He is the Agent in the new birth; that He seals, endues, guides,
teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and helps the believer.
The Spiritual gifts are listed in three different places in the Bible (Romans
12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:7-16), the gifts of evangelism,
pastors, and teachers are sufficient for the perfecting of the saints today
(Ephesians 4:7-12). Some of the gifts of Spirit (Apostleship, healing,
miracles, prophecy, tongues and interpretation of tongues) were given to
validate men of God and their message as from God and gradually ceased as the
New Testament canon was completed and its authority became established (2
Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 13:8-10; 1 Corinthians 14:22; 2 Corinthians 12:12).
We believe that God does hear and answer the prayer of faith (John 14:13-14;
John 15:7) for the sick and affflicted (James 5:14-16) in accord with His own
will (James 4:3; 1 John 5:14-15).
